Introduction to DJ & Production
Our Intro to DJ & Production is the perfect course for anyone looking to learn the fundamentals of DJing and Music Production. Aimed at the beginner, this course introduces students to current formats used by the modern DJ such as Serato/Rekordbox, Controllers & Pioneer CDJ's. Students are also introduced to Ableton Live software, which is commonly used to produce various genres of Electronic Music.

START DATE:
Start a course scheduled for Tuesday night, your course will then run for four consecutive Tuesday's.
Start on Wednesday and the course will run for four consecutive Wednesday's.

This course will give students the practical knowledge to prepare them for a career as a professional DJ, and will provide them with essential skills in the area of Music Production.

Apply to Creative Music Production, DL838 via CAO by February 1.
The next step depends on the pathway you are applying for:
Submit a portfolio for the Production pathway (two short pieces of music, ideally showing contrast, with a written piece describing your role OR a short reflective essay discussing a concert/genre/artist/album demonstrating your interest in the course).
Or
Audition for the Practice pathway (a short, 3 min audition demonstrating core instrument skills and showcasing your creative musicianship). Applicants will be asked to specify their instrument. The programme currently accommodates Strings (guitar, bass, bowed strings), Percussion, Vocal, Keyboards and Electronic Instruments/Performance Solutions.
Advanced Entry:
Students completing the STC Higher Certificate (or equivalent) are eligible to apply for advanced entry into second year. Details on advanced entry can be found here .

This is a private course.
The course costs €250, a €100 deposit secures a place on the course, the remaining €150 must be paid before week 3.
