Brian Carty
Principal (Head Lecturer)
PhD Surround Technologies
Dr Brian Carty has been the Principal Lecturer in the Sound Training Centre since 2010. Before this, Brian lectured for 4 years in the Music Department at NUI Maynooth, where he completed his PhD on Binaural Audio in 2011. Brian has presented his research work around the world and published in a number of books and journals. He has also received scholarships from the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology and NUI.

David Christophers
Engineering, Production, Acoustics and Room Design
David Christophers has been working as a freelance Engineer/Producer both in the studio and live sound world for over 20 years. His client list includes: The Whipping Boy, Mundy, Josh Ritter, Fight Like Apes, Mercury Rev and The Average White Band. At present he co-ordinates a development & consultancy service for professional music production.

Phil Hayes
Client List – Bell X1, The Blizzards, JJ72
Live Sound, Mix Engineering
Phil has been one of Ireland’s most prominent engineers for many years now, working with homegrown acts such as JJ72, Gavin Friday, Paddy Casey and Bell X1. He has worked with legendary producer Lou Adler and is one of the country’s most recognised live sound engineers. Phil teaches in the areas of sound engineering, mixing and live sound re-enforcement.

Fergal Davis
Client List – Muse, Sinead O’Connor, the Divine Comedy, Ronan Keating
Protools systems, Mastering Engineering, Mix Engineering.
Fergal has a long career as a recording and mixing engineer, and has been mastering records since 2001. His mastering credits include Sinead O’Connor and Muse and countless clients from all genres of music from the past 2 decades.

Adrian Garry
Client List – Thrills, Damien Dempsey, Delorentoes
Studio Engineering
Adrian has been working as a lecturer in STC for 10 years and currently manages his own recording studio.
He has worked with bands in the studio and live including: Bell X1, Adebisi Shank, Jack L, JJ72, Damien Dempsey among a few.
He is currently tour managing and doing FOH for Delorentos

Andy Knightly
Client List -O2, MTV, Kings Of Leon, Vampire Weekend, Westlife, David Gray
Studio Engineering
Andy currently owns and operates mobile recording solutions business Krecording. Krecording supplies equipment and engineering skills for large scale broadcasts from indoor and outdoor venues including Slane, Oxegen, Whelans and The O2 arena.
Martin Clancy
Music Business/Ableton
Martin has produced a variety different genres (Dance, Jazz, Americana) & recorded a broad range of artists (Jack L & Camille O’Sullivan etc) using Ableton Live. In 2011 Ableton Germany invited Martin to become one of the first Certified Ableton Trainers in Ireland.

Conor Friel
Heathers, This Club, Button Factory House Engineer
Live Sound, Studio Engineering
Conor Friel is a graduate of the Sound Training Centre and is a highly sought after live engineer. He is the house engineer in the Button Factory, and works freelance for many live acts including Heathers and This Club. He has worked at most high profile venues around the country, including Electric Picnic, Oxygen and the Aviva Stadium.

Timmy Gibson/Tommy Conway
Electronic Music Production, DJ’ing
This award winning duo have been with the Sound Training Centre for a decade. Having completed their studies here, their already established careers hit new heights as they releases their cover of Blondie’s rapture, reaching No. 1 in 2007. Since then the duo have set up their own record label, Full Tilt and are at the forefront of the Irish dance scene. Timmy and Tommy teach on our DJ and Electronic Production Courses.

Fergal Henry
Lighting Technology
Fergal has concentrated solely on the lighting and visual side of the business working as a systems tech, rigger, operator and designer. He has created shows for touring acts in all of the major venues in Ireland as well as touring extensively with some of the bigger dance/techno acts as a moving light programmer. He has also began working in television designing and building LED walls.
Ian Flynn
Studio Engineering
Ian is a founding member of NDT Productions. He has worked on projects by acts such as Greg Clifford, Nick Kelly and Common Wolf. He has also worked as a live sound engineer for Arturs Day and at Electric Picnic. He has been working in the industry for the last four years and has been teaching for the last three. He mainly specialises in Studio Engineering and Electronic Music Production.

Kevin Robinson
Electronics
Kevin combines an academic background with extensive practical experience
as a live sound engineer. Three degrees in the areas of electronics &
software engineering (BEng Exeter, MSc Oxford, PhD DCU, Dublin) have
allowed him to develop a deep knowledge and understanding of the technology
behind the art of sound engineering. Meanwhile, as a active live sound
engineer he has had the opportunity to work with over 100 acts, as diverse
as Peggy Seeger, Donal Lunny, Delorentos, and The Dublin Gospel Choir.
Kevin designs and delivers modules on Electronics and Audio Technology at
the Sound Training Centre.
Ciaran Ryan
Music Theory and Control Systems
With a background in mathematics, Ciaran has 6 years of teaching experience and brings years of experience in the fields of Sound Engineering, Music Technology, Music Theory, Composition and Control Systems.
